“Lake Oswego was honoring its inspiration coach, Jeff Young, who has lived with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis — better known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease — for the past 39 years. Taking motivation from Coach Young, the Lakers wore red uniforms emblazoned with “ALS” on the front and “Warrior” on the back. On either side of a powerful halftime ceremony to honor Young, on behalf of whom Lake Oswego High School and other organizations are raising funds, the teams on the field delivered a powerful performance to match.
