Congratulations to Coach Jeff for his third Oregon 6A Football Championship.
Be Like Jeff – Live Heads Up!!
We completed the 2024 Lake Oswego High School Red Out Week and our annual fundraising campaign for Coach Jeff Young. What started off as a single football game to bring awareness to Coach Jeff Young’s miraculous 41-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), has now evolved into a school-wide, week of education and awareness for the power of embracing a positive mindset and lifestyle.
This is the second year we’ve partnered with the Live Heads-Up organization and the campaign, Be Like Jeff – Live Heads Up. Activities for RED OUT Week include an all-school assembly, Girls Varsity Volleyball and Girls Varsity Soccer, Boys Varsity Soccer and Varsity Football games. Many Laker teams wore red to celebrate the greatness that is Coach Jeff and his relentless pursuit to Live Heads Up in his thoughts and actions – regardless of what life throws at him.
Lake Oswego High School Football Coach Jeff Young, also an Ambassador for The Live Heads Up Foundation, was invited to Eugene to share an inspirational message with the nationally ranked University of Oregon Football Team.
Coach Dan Lanning read a message to the team written by Jeff about goals and how they can be tested in the face of adversity. He also reminded the team that no one knows what tomorrow will bring. Therefore, we must all live in the present and make the most out of every day.
Later that day, Jeff met with players and was given a backstage tour of the athletic facilities at UO. Special thanks to Coach Dan Lanning, The University of Oregon and Live Heads Up for a day that everyone involved will remember.

Special thanks to Live Heads Up and Filigree Wealth Advisors, who teamed up with Portland Trailblazers and Blazer legends including Chris Dudley, Terry Porter and Steve Johnson to help celebrate the greatness that is Coach Jeff Young. Jeff was recognized on the big screen and was presented with a personalized Trailblazer Jersey. The number 48 is a reflection of his slogan with the Lake Oswego Lakers Football program – LO48 – as a reminder to live your best life and do your best every minute of the 48 minutes in a football game. Jeff became an ambassador for Live Heads Up in 2023, where they promote the benefits of living your best life when you “Live Heads Up” in your thoughts and actions.
